Mind Control & the Internet

In her article named “Mind Control and the internet”, Sue Halpern focuses on the various arguments regarding the integration of technology in the human brain. Various researchers indicate that technology can considerably increase the quality of living. The idea describes the internet as a robot that can exist in the brain. Larry Page supports this idea. She envisions the future where the brain would be supplemented by Google’s services. The cell phone would answer one’s query by whispering in into the person’s ear when he or she merely thinks of a question.  Sue Halpern argues that with the emergence of technology, people are becoming more impatient. With the advancement of technology, people are putting lesser efforts in increasing the knowledge of the tools like spell and grammar check and application like Google answer every single query of a person. Furthermore, the evolution of “text language” is taking people further away from the traditional educational practices (Halpern 2017).
The article concludes about the formation of a prototype of “thought helmet”. This helmet would allow the soldiers to communicate with each h other wirelessly. However, there are certain risks associated with it if the communication chain is misinterpreted by the soldiers and can severely affect the whole system. The article thus questions the developments and the use of technologies for the benefits of the society (Happy 2017).
